Tanisha Brito, 24, was crowned Miss Georgia USA 2005 on November 6, 2004, during the annual pageant held in Rome, GA in the Rome City Auditorium. Brito will represent Georgia in the 2005 Miss USA pageant in March televised live on NBC.
With a passion for youth empowerment, in 2002, Tanisha logged over 20,000 miles, spoke in 5 states, and started 3 peer mentoring programs “Each One Teach One” --- all in the name of fostering youth leadership. She has worked exclusively with the Connecticut Department of Education, the leaders in Anti-Bullying legislation, the National Mentoring Partnership, and the Georgia State legislature on creating legislation to improve the quality of mentoring programs.
Brito developed an early love of dance and she has studied dance for over 18 years --- tap, jazz, and ballet and has competed since the age of 8. And she has also studied voice: (classical and Broadway).
A former Miss Jr. Teen America and Miss Connecticut National Teen-ager, she has also held titles in the Miss America Organization. Miss New London County 2000 (CT-MAO), Miss Fulton County (GA-MAO), and Miss New London County 2002. Tanisha was 2nd Runner Up to the 2000 Miss Connecticut title. Won Non-Finalist Interview Award in at the 2001 Miss Georgia pageant and in 2002 she won the prestigious title of Miss Connecticut and became a Top Ten Finalist at the 2003 Miss America pageant. Through her participation in the Miss America Scholarship program, she has been awarded nearly $25,000 in scholarship funds.
Currently, Tanisha teaches communications at Premier School of Modeling and Self Improvement. She is also the Co-Executive director of the Miss Fulton County Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Georgia and Miss America Scholarship Pageants, and sits on the National Advisory Board of Mobilizing America's Youth. Tanisha majored in Mass Communications at Clark Atlanta University and will be pursuing her MBA in Marketing in the fall of 2005 at Clark Atlanta University in the Graduate Business School on full scholarship.
